Itinerary:

Note: The varietal indigenous to Santorini is called Assyrtiko. It is planted in the volcanic-ash-rich-soil, it is transparent through its yellow skin, and when the skin breaks its juicy flesh is exposed. The island also cultivates two other varietals indigenous to the Aegean, Athiri and Aidani. All three of these vines are very old and are completely resistant to phylloxera (pest of grapevines world wide), many experts attribute this unique characteristic to the volcanic soil.

Santorini Wine Museum:
8 meter below ground and tunnels run as far as 300 meters long, the Wine Museum offers visitors a vivid history of the flourishing wine industry between 1660 to 1970. It also gives visitors a look into the life in Santorini a few centuries ago. This is also a great opportunity to try some of the best wine Santorini has to offer.

Traditional Village Vanishing Santorini:
In the village of Pyrgos old buildings are restored, refurbished, and maintained to present Santorini past. Vanishing Santorini, focuses on life in the past and on the industries that helped this island survive, wine production, tomato-paste production, and the process of the highly acclaimed fava of Santorini. The "old mansion and farm house" is furnished with authentic furniture of that time. Also worth visiting at this time-travel complex, is the exhibition of old photographs.

Santo Winery:
Founded in 1947, Santo Winery is the largest producer of wine on the island. This winery opens its doors for more than 80,000 visitors a year, offering wine tastings, wine purchase, and other purchase of products authentic to Santorini.
