LINDOS:

Within the midst of this beautiful modern village of Lindos lies the ancient acropolis on top of a cliff. According to myth the pre-Hellenic cult of Athena Lindia was located here. The history of the sanctuary begins in the Geometric period, and the tyrant of Lindos, Kleoboulos, gave new life to the cult and built a temple, probably on the site of the previous one. The Archaic temple was burnt down n 342 BC and the present one now stands in its place. During the Roman period a priest by the name of Aglochartos planted olive trees around the sanctuary. The acropolis is accessible via rugged stairs, either on foot or ride on donkey back.

SEVEN SPRINGS:

Epta piges (seven springs in Greek) is beautiful scenic valley, flowing with clear springs and covered with enormous plane and pine trees. Visitors get a first hand look at the unique beauty of the interior part of the island.

The tour is about 4 1/2 hours.
